CLASSES
FIRST STEPS: 30 minute
class
Ages 2-3 with a parent
FIRST STEPS introduces toddlers and parents to dance
class. Taken together, parent and child learn stretches
to increase flexibility, basic dance steps, and light
tumbling which will further help with increased muscle
development and coordination.
PRESCHOOL DANCE: 60 minute class
Ages 3-4
PRESCHOOL DANCE is geared to our preschool-aged
students. Students will begin to learn the fundamental
movements of ballet, tap, simple tumbling and creative
movement.
KINDER DANCE: 60 minute class
Ages 5-6
KINDER DANCE is tailored to our kindergarten students.
The fundamental movements of ballet and tap are further
developed and there is the addition of jazz dance.
LEVEL I: 90 minute class
Ages 7-8
LEVEL I is divided into 30 minute sessions of ballet,
tap and jazz. In ballet, students will concentrate on
ballet barre and center exercises which will emphasize
body placement and alignment. During the tap portion of
class students will learn to create rhythms with their
feet. Ending with jazz, students will learn stretches to
increase flexibility, body isolations and essential jazz
movements.
LEVEL II: 2 hour class
Ages 9-10
LEVEL II increases ballet instruction to 1 hour allowing
for further development during center and across the
floor combinations. During the tap and jazz sections
students will learn high energy steps that will further
expand their knowledge of tap and jazz dance.
LEVEL III: 2 ½ hour class
Ages 11-12
LEVEL III continues with 1 hour of ballet instruction
with and increase in tap and jazz instruction to 45
minutes. In ballet, students will further focus on barre,
center and across the floor exercises increasing in
difficulty. In both tap and jazz, students will continue
to learn more advanced technique with more of an
emphasis on center combinations and performance.
TEEN BALLET, TAP & JAZZ: 1 hour class each subject
Ages 13 and up
Teen ballet, tap and jazz are geared toward teenage
dancers with a desire to increase and develop a greater
understanding of each subject. Classes are offered to
both beginning teen students as well as more advanced
teen dancers. First-time dancers in their teens will
benefit tremendously from the confidence and poise that
is introduced, developed and enhanced in dance class.
HIP HOP: 1 hour class
HIP HOP I: Ages 6-8
HIP HOP II: Ages 9-12
TEEN HIP HOP: Ages 13 and up
One of today’s most popular dance forms, Hip Hop is fun
and energetic. Class begins with warm up, which enforces
and teaches flexibility and strengthening and progresses
to moving across the floor and center choreography. Hip
Hop teaches rhythm and confidence to students of all
ages.
MODERN: 1 hour class
Ages 12 and up
For the student with a background in traditional dance
who is interested in trying something new. Since a great
deal of the movements in modern are isolated and
exaggerated, this dance form tends to be very physical.
To put it lightly, this is a workout!
ADULT TAP & JAZZ: 1 hour class each subject
Ages 18 and up
Adult tap and jazz is for the young-at-heart adults
looking to either learn basic tap and/or jazz movements
OR to give a few folks the opportunity to dust off those
dance shoes hidden in the back of the closet!
Irish Step: 60 minutes
Ages 6 and up
Irish Step classes are designed to teach students the art of traditional Irish Step dancing. Classes will focus on technique, balance, posture and traditional steps such as reels, jigs, and slip jigs. |
